I’m Francesc Borrull, a writer born in Barcelona and now living in Normal, Illinois. My work explores the landscapes of memory and the quiet, human moments that shape ordinary lives. I’m drawn to the subtle emotions people carry, the silences beneath the surface, and the small gestures that reveal deeper truths.
Beyond fiction, I write about the worlds that have always inspired me—literature, film, music, and philosophy. These strands come together in Creative Cadence, a space for reflection, storytelling, and the ongoing search for meaning through art.
Not The End is my debut collection of nine interconnected stories about memory, loss, and endurance.
My work is shaped by a long engagement with language and literature. I hold a Master’s degree in Philology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and completed doctoral coursework in Comparative Literature at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, where I studied philosophy, art theory, and literary traditions. I later completed a PhD in Translation, focusing on literature, and have taught linguistics, sociolinguistics, and language pedagogy at the university level. Alongside this, I hold a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and currently serve as an Assistant Principal at a large high school. These experiences inform both my creative and critical work, grounding it in a sustained conversation with texts, languages, and the act of interpretation itself.
